The Three Rivers Art Festival in Pittsburgh concluded this past weekend on a beautiful summer night. The festival once again proved to be an immense success, entertaining thousands with free musical performances, local Pittsburgh art, and of course, delicious food. The event kicked off June 6th, and spanned ten exciting days.
The festival welcomed hundreds of art vendors from across the country, making for quite a diverse display of talent. Weaving among the many tents integrated in Pittsburgh’s beautiful downtown, one could find anything from woodwork to photography exhibits. Each artist sat with their work, allowing for patrons to easily ask questions or start a friendly conversation.
Aside from the large-scale musical performances, many street performers took advantage of the large crowds. Countless local Pittsburgh musicians lined the streets playing instruments ranging from a harmonica to a saxophone. The local influence did not stop there however, with numerous art shows featuring outstanding Pittsburgh artists. In a festival that attracts people from every corner of the United States, Pittsburgh continues to display it’s artistic potential each and every year.
Point State Park featured free musical performances on the spacious lawn. Thousands of Pittsburghers’ laid out their picnic blankets to enjoy the summer tunes and delicious food provided by local restaurants. The music went late into the evening as crowds mingled around the beautiful fountain centerpiece near the front of the park. It was the perfect way to end another wonderful year of art in Pittsburgh.
