If you’re a fashion Maniac, New York Fashion Week is the most wonderful time of the year. It’s as magical as any other holiday and models are adorned in the newest spring fashions. Celebrities, buyers and anyone lucky enough to be invited surround the runway at the Lincoln Center. Although the fashion shows are the main event, it’s nearly impossible to forget the kick-off parties celebrated worldwide on September 6th.
This year is the fourth birthday of Fashion’s Night Out and it proves to be an extravagant one. New York City never fails to disappoint as designers, models, fashion editors, celebrities and, of course, shoppers, will crowd their favorite stores while popping champagne. And you obviously can’t celebrate FNO without buying a new outfit so make your way over to Barney’s. You can play ping pong with the Olsen Twins after shopping for your exclusive Alexander McQueen FNO scarf.
If that doesn’t appeal to you, don’t worry. Boutiques across the city are trying to outdo one another. With more than 300 stores participating, you will have your pick of celebrity photo opps, designer discounts and complimentary champagne. Even the Empire State Building is getting gussied up this year with red lights. There’s something to suit everyone’s style. The guys brave enough to venture with their significant others can visit the man cave on Macy’s third floor. They can roll cigars and sip brandy before meeting the Knicks City Dancers. They’ll be glad they came.
The store crawl starts at 6 and ladies, don’t be afraid to wear your sexiest pair of shoes. A double-decker bus shuttled by L.K. Bennett is taking guests to and from Columbus Circle. So strap on your Choos and hit the town. Wet blankets are never in style.
