With the promise of a frigid winter looming just around the corner, it’s enough to make any girl want to board a plane to the nearest beach. Personally, I’m all about the sun and the sand over the snow and rain. After all, bikinis are just so much more fun than winter coats. While I look out the window and see gloomy clouds rolling in, I’m daydreaming of a sun-soaked vacation.
1. Bali, Indonesia
The Indonesian island of Bali is perfect for both adventurers and those in need of a little relaxation. With white beaches, crystal clear waters and lush jungles, it’s a literal paradise. Hiking to the summit of Mount Batur will reward you with an absolutely stunning view, and afterwards you can relax at one of Bali’s countless luxury spas.
2. Honolulu, Oahu, HI
It might be one of the most cliché of all vacation destinations, but is there anywhere more idyllic than Hawaii? Between the beautiful flowers and perfect beaches, it really doesn’t get any better. Take a horseback ride along the North Shore trails, or if you’re feeling a little brave, go swimming with sharks.
3. Cabo San Lucas, Los Cabos, Baja California, Mexico
Cabo’s Pacific coast is host to crashing waves as well as sheltered, calm water on the Sea of Cortez. This has lent itself well to Cabo’s growing reputation for both outdoor sports (kayaking and diving), and pure beach relaxation. Cap your day in the sun off with a spin around town, because the nightlife there is the perfect way to blow off some steam. From honeymooners to families to celebrities, everyone is a fan of a Cabo vacation.
4. Aruba, Caribbean
Is there a better combination than a relaxing atmosphere and 100% gorgeous weather? For anyone working all winter in a dreary, cold city, the answer is a resounding “No!” Aruba offers its vacationers enough palm trees and luxurious spa treatments to make even the chilliest December weather a distant memory.
5. Santorini, Greece
Santorini is as glamorous as it is different. Instead of the typical white sand found on most island beaches, this island is home to the popular black sand beaches, Perissa and Kamari, and the famous Red Beach, near Akrotiri. With breathtaking views from their sky-high towns, eclectic cuisine, thriving nightlife and delicious selection of wines, Santorini is the place to go for any traveler who’s craving a little something different for their winter vacation.
