It’s that time of the year again when people are craving relaxation and the summer sun, leaving them daydreaming about their annual summer vacation. Whether you’re traveling to the beach by car or jet setting across the Atlantic to a rustic destination in Europe, packing is often one of the most stressful parts of any trip. Lucky for you, we came up with a list of tips from a few top-tier packers to relieve some of your packing stress.
1.) Plan outfits for each day and lay them out a few days before you leave. By planning outfits, with their accessories, you avoid the over packing curse most women find themselves in over and over again.
2.) Bring pieces that are easy to mix and match. It’s amazing how many outfits can be created with just a few basic clothing items. By bringing pieces that can easily be mixed and matched with others, you can save on packing space while creating a new and beautiful look every day.
3.) Line the bottom of your suitcase with your shoes. Not only does this prevent your clothes from getting dirty, but it also creates a base for your clothes to sit on. Make sure you’re strategically placing your shoes on the bottom to achieve optimal capacity. (Tip: Make each pair of shoes look how they did when you first opened them in their box. Those shoe brands are smart when it comes to saving space!)
4.) Place heavy items on the bottom. For a summer vacation, you shouldn’t have too many heavy items to pack. Two of my must-have items that I take with me on any vacation include a warm sweater and my favorite pair of jeans, which tend to be the heaviest items when packing for a summer vacation. By placing these items, along with a few other heavier pieces from your closet, on the bottom of your clothing stacks, it will prevent excess wrinkles on blouses while keeping your piles neat and tidy in your suit case.
5.) Roll and tuck pieces that can no longer fit when they are folded. You will be amazing at just how much room you save when rolling your t-shirts and tucking them along the sides of the suitcase. And, if you roll nicely, your t-shirts will be wrinkle-free so you don’t need to pull out that hotel iron!
Packing can be more challenging that a jinx saw puzzle. It can take hours upon hours to strategically place each and every item in your suitcase to achieve maximum capacity. So avoid the sitting-on-the-suitcase frustration, and calm down, plan ahead, and follow the tips we gave you for a stress-free packing experience.
