Violet is vivacious, charming, and full of life. She’s a natural beauty with radiant skin, almond-shaped eyes, pearly white teeth, and a glow that never seems to dim. Her cool-girl style is effortless and edgy, represented best by her deep purple locks and bold, colorful tattoos. She’s a girls’ girl who takes pride in her work and clicked with the Maniac team from day one. Above all, Violet is a true talent and our latest style profile.
Violet is a hair stylist, makeup artist, and color artist, but most people call her a magician. She’s been in the industry for years, first working as a professional model in Manhattan then she decided to work behind the scenes. She has been with famed salon Philip Pelusi since the spring and rockin’ it out at their Southside location ever since. This girl grew up as a ponytail-loving tomboy, but has blossomed into a beautiful, career-driven woman with killer style.
Maniac Magazine: So, what do you like most about being a hairstylist?
Violet: I love making people feel beautiful! I love my job, and I love getting to express my creativity and art through people. Nothing brings me more joy than seeing that. A bad hair experience can be life changing, but a great one can inspire, motivate, and boost self-esteem in all the right places.
MM: How would you describe your personal style?
V: A gypsy-vampire who made a baby with a witch and a mermaid. That’s me. My style changes like the seasons in Pittsburgh. I adore cat shaped nails, the color black, bracelets, rings, unique earrings, and anything that sparkles. I enjoy grunge with a touch of class. My style is just being different and wearing what I feel and not what I’m supposed to.
MM: Who is your style icon?
V: My first thought is Lady Gaga and Katy Perry, but in small doses. They inspire me for pieces I can wear everyday, not a sold out concert or fashion gala. But if I had to pick an everyday thing, it’d be Jessica Alba. She doesn’t even try and I love it.
MM: What is one piece in your closet you could not live without?
V: Combat boots. Whether it’s a flirty dress or leggings and a scarf, combat boots make my world go round.
