It’s always disheartening news when someone young dies at an early age. ‘Glee’ star and teen heartthrob Cory Monteith was found dead in his Vancouver hotel room Saturday. He was 31.
Monteith was recently treated for addiction; however, cause of death was not released at the news conference Saturday night. Paramedics arrived within minutes of receiving the call from BC Ambulance Service but it was too late. Monteith had already been dead several hours according to the coroner.
Hotel staff discovered his body after he missed check-out.
Monteith’s character, Finn Hudson, made it cool again to sing on scripted shows. Anyone in the audience who was apprehensive about embracing music saw him as a role model. He always delivered on the show and wowed viewers with his renditions of songs like U2’s “One” and Michael Jackson’s “Man in the Mirror.”
The actor successfully completed a treatment for addiction after checking himself into the program in April. An autopsy is scheduled for Monday, but so far indications are there was no foul play.
Monteith leaves behind his parents Joe Monteith and Ann McGregor, who raised him as a single mother, and a brother, Shaun.
Our thoughts, prayers and minds are with all friends, families and fans in this tragic time.
