Are you on the fringe of fashion?
Well, you can be! Fringe was all the rage at Fashion Week 2011.
Gowns and separates were flapper-inspired, and fringe was seen on boots and jackets, too.
Fringe can easily verge into the cliche, costumey looks inspired by hippies, Native Americans, and, as aforementioned, flappers, but it doesn’t have to look cheesy.
Instead of donning an all-out fringey look, add a fringed handbag, some booties with fringe, or a fringed vest. As with any trend, you shouldn’t overdo it!
That being said, the designers certainly had fun with fringe on the runway. Proenza Schouler, Michael Kors, and Oscar de la Renta did fringe for Fall 2011, and designers such as Marc Jacobs and Mark Fast presented fringe for Spring 2012 – this trend sure is going strong! Even Missoni got in on the action, delivering its trademark color and prints for Spring 2012 with textural intrigue, ruffles, fringe, and tassels adorning dresses and separates.
How do you fringe it up?
Check out photos below for some inspirations including a Michael Kors suede fringe mini, purple fringed boots by Sam Edelton, a Juicy Couture fringed necklace, fringed tote from Prada. and Fall 2011 & Spring 2012 runway looks from the above-mentioned designers. Whether it’s a fringed bag, fringey bangs, or a jacket, it’s a super-fun trend to try. Enjoy!
