Scouted at the mall by Elite Model Management, Krysten Ritter traded in her farming roots of eastern Pennsylvania for the streets of Hollywood. She’s starred in major movies, hits the stage in her rock band, and even writes, sells, and co-produces television pilots and movies.
Even though her modeling career was flourishing, something was off. “I was angsty and didn’t really know who I was. I hated standing still and shutting up.” Her early start with modeling opened her eyes to many new worlds. “ I’m very grateful for the opportunity and it exposed me to the big bad world.” It also helped her find her true calling. “Modeling exposed me to this artistic world and these weirdos. I was like…this is where I belong. I want to write, I want to be an actress, I want to be a musician.”
With her work ethic and wisdom, dreaming big paid off. “You have to be confident and you have to think highly of what you’re doing, or no one else will.” There are also struggles when it comes to being a female powerhouse in a “boy’s town.” Krysten focuses her energy on being hardworking, well-educated, and prepared for every situation. She carries around an idea that can be beneficial for women everywhere, “ women should be confident. A lot of this [business] is a ‘boy’s town,’ but there is no reason why we can’t hang with the boys.”
From her indie band, Ex Vivian, to starring alongside A-listers such as Kate Bosworth, it seems like there is nothing this girl can’t do, and she does it all while rocking her combat boots and favorite leather jacket. She truly radiates the MANIAC identity.
