Ahhhh, summertime. Vacations, warm weather, and a very popular time for weddings. For many, they have to be prepared to attend a numerous amount of weddings in the summer. The thing is, no one wants to be a repeat offender of wearing the same outfit to different weddings. Plus, you want to wear something that fits in with the location and dress code of the wedding. So to help inspire your wedding attire this season, here is a little cheat sheet of what to wear to different wedding venues. Be ready to get an A+ on wedding style.
Beach Party
We all love a wedding on the beach. Except when we feel overheated with the glaring sun. So try to wear something light and airy. Clingy materials will make you sweat. Also, bonus points for picking a dress that doesn’t wrinkle easily (who else stuffs their dresses into their suitcases?). Think of wearing a chiffon or jersey material dress.
The high-low dress trend is huge this year. Luckily, it is also perfect for a beach wedding. You don’t have to worry about sand getting all over it like you would with a maxi dress and it also cools you off a bit more because the front of the dress is shorter. My pick for this trend is Aidan Mattox‘s two tone high/low dress. The classic ivory and black coloring will fit in with any wedding color scheme. It is also the perfect dress for casual beach weddings, but you can dress it up with accessories to be more formal.
Garden Fete
The garden wedding has a whimsical feel to it. Feel free to wear something that has some floral appliqué or lace details. Usually a cocktail, fit and flare, or sheath dress looks perfect for this venue. I am obsessed with this Jenny Yoo lacy sheath dress (especially in this vibrant coral color). Because it is sleeveless, you can wear it as is when it is warm out, but when the temps cool off you can throw on a wrap.
Another dress that is perfect for a garden wedding is this Trina Turk number. It is a classic shaped dress with a fun, modern print. The plum color would really look superb in a garden because it will mimic the lush and colorful flowers.
City Soiree
For the city shindig, you can wear something more fitted (not fitted and short like you are going out to a club!) and that has a modern flair to it. This BCBGMAXAZRIA dress is simply stunning. The one shoulder look is modern and has elegant details along the front. When wearing a one shoulder dress, I like to keep the accessories to a minimum. Wear some elegant, long, dangly earrings, but no necklace. The one strap is enough emphasis on your neckline. Put on a pair of killer heels and your ready to hit the town.
For a more black tie affair at night in the city, I prefer a floor length gown. Darker colors look great for this type of event and add an air of elegance. This Badgley Mischka gown is fab! So, so stunning. It has a classic vibe to it because of the shape, but the beaded neckline creates dramatic interest. Try to keep away from overwhelming patterns when attending this type of wedding. A dress that is flowy and that has a bold pattern is better fit for a beachy kind of wedding. Wearing an embellished dress like this one, there is no need for too much jewelry.
So there you have it ladies. Figuring out what to wear to a wedding is always stressful, but now you have some ideas of what is stylish and comfortable this season. So put on your dancing shoes and have a blast at weddings this summer!
