As Africa Fashion Week in New York gears up for its takeoff in July, one designer’s name is sure to be on everyone’s lips.
Korto Momolu, pronounced Cut • Toe – Mo • Mo • Lu, came out with her amazing Spring and Summer 2013 line that was featured in New York Fashion Week back in September. This was the Project Runaway contestant’s first ready to wear collection and it was designed with different women’s shapes in consideration. Using different silhouettes, and a variety of fabrics, her SS13 line is made for women from size 2 to size 12.
The garments incorporate bold colors and classic cuts as well as perfectly encasing the upcoming trends of the spring and summer. Momolu’s line is aesthetically pleasing as well as conscious of the everyday woman’s needs.
The Liberian native was highlighted as a top 5 designer to watch by New York Magazine in 2010 and has been featured in countless spreads. It’s exciting to see what she will be doing in the future, and she’s definitely someone to keep an eye on.
