Katy Perry + Moschino
It is never a dull moment with Katy Perry or Jeremy Scott. The Pop icon is always one to entertain her audience with her quirky and daring style, so when I found out she was the new face for Moschino it wasn’t much of a surprise. Jeremy Scott, the designer for Moschino, became a sensation with his pop culture inspired theme for Spring/Summer 2015. I can admit, I was a little bit obsessed with his Barbie collection. Now his latest creation exaggerates the nostalgic pop culture of the 1990’s. This modern day Andy Warhol struts his line of puffy jackets, neon camouflage, graffiti gowns, looney toons T-Shirts and ghetto fabulous jean patchwork on the runway for Fall/Winter 2015.
This past week Katy posted pictures on her Instagram of her Moschino campaign, sending the media into a frenzy. I must say she compliments Scott’s work very well! One who is not afraid to be different, she siphons the vibe of the 1990’s rebellious youth while posing in Scott’s graffiti gown and biker jacket. Another picture shows Katy channeling her inner dark-haired twiggy, and poses nude with a fur coat draped over half of her body. She reveals some intense side boob and crazy curves that could make even Kim Kardashian a little jealous.
While in Moschino’s gold top and jean patch work jacket she is draped with gold chains and embodies the era of when hip hop was born. With more attitude than Lil Kim, Katy broadcasts the beauty behind the multi-jean jacket. In another photo she is decked out in bold solids and quilted puffys portraying that all too familiar B Boy stance. While she can keep the stance, this jacket will be a delight during the bone chilling winters of Pittsburgh.
Although Scott’s 1990 inspired line and fun campaign ads are a little cliché, they are well-designed and ingenious. Moschino hired Scott in 2013 to help the company’s profits surge, and that is just what he did. Now paired with Katy Perry, this dynamic duo is attracting attention from fashion lovers everywhere.
