Is Marc Jacobs headed to Dior?
Many names have been tossed about to replace John Galliano at Christian Dior as Creative Director. The names have ranged from the likely to the unlikely from Alexander Wang, to Christian Lacriox, to Riccardo Tisci, Keren Craig, and more. However, it seems that today, at least, the most likely candidate is Jacobs.
Marc Jacobs would give up his prominent position at Louis Vuitton for the move, but would still, naturally, be involved in his two eponymous lines.
The much sought-after and highly prestigious Dior creative director position has remained empty since the dramatic firing of John Galliano in March, who was let go due to his series of very public drunken and anti-Semitic rants.
This question of who will take the top job at Dior has remained since Galliano’s departure. LVMH, the luxury conglomerate that owns the Christian Dior label as well as Louis Vuitton, Marc Jacobs and a host of other popular brands, are supposedly to take meetings with Marc Jacobs’ “people” sometime this week.
Neither camp has confirmed nor denied the rumors. This is not the first time that this particular piece of gossip circulated the internet. Until they comment, this is nothing official. But, it is fun to speculate what this could mean for the world of fashion.
