She’s beautiful, no doubt. But how young is TOO young?
In an industry where models often peak before the age of 20, it is no wonder that models keep getting younger and younger. Many supermodels started their careers at ages 14 or 15, and, just as many models retire by the time they are 25 years old. Unfortunately, much like the super-tall and super-skinny requirements, this is a standard in the fashion world.
That being said, many folks say that there have to be some boundaries. Should skeletal-looking models be pushing high-end clothing — and poor body image — to young girls? And, how young is too young when it comes to adult fashion?
Controversy was sparked recently over a French Vogue editorial where a 10-year-old high fashion model is dolled up like an adult. The spread has some people saying that it is too sexified, and too edgy, for such a young girl.
At the tender age of 10, model Thylane Blondeau and her mother are facing a (mostly-negative) media firestorm. Sure, she is beautiful — but is she too young for these types of photos and this kind of styling? And is it artistic, or simply too provocative?
You decide.
