Gasp! Are you as excited as we are for the Great Gatsby to come out? Whenever the trailer comes on we get chills. The fashion, the glamour, the men (Hello Leo!) We can’t get enough of the Roaring 20s. How awesome of a job does the costume designer, Catherine Martin, have?! If you think her awesome job ends at accessorizing Carey Mulligan in Tiffany & Co. diamonds and outfitting Leo DiCaprio in custom Brooks Brothers – think again. She gets to collaborate over dropped waists and fur colors with one of the world’s most iconic fashion designers, Miuccia Prada.
Yep, that’s right. Prada is responsible for 40 gorgeous cocktail and evening dresses. The wardrobe was reinterpreted from past Miu Miu and Prada wares. The newly released sketches will ring a bell of familiarity with fans of the Italian fashion house. The silhouettes and embroidery of the spring 2011 collection are easily recognizable.
Mulligan is the prefect muse for Prada and even wore one of her creations down the aisle! We cannot wait to see her in Great Gatsby attire. Unfortunately for us, the movie doesn’t come out until May. Thankfully, we have these sketches to wet our appetites until then.
