Celebrating America!
Its July 3rd, a day which wouldn’t be so special if it wasn’t for the fact that if falls directly before the 4th of July! If you’re anything like a busy Maniac Magazine girl, you probably haven’t even had a chance to think about, let alone plan, the outfit that you will be wearing tomorrow. Being a fashion publication, we determined that it was absolutely necessary to publish a guide to dressing for the fourth, complete with outfits for every occasion. After all, the fourth is a day made for Instagram posts and Polaroid photo shoots, so it would be an absolute travesty if you didn’t look the part!
So you’re a country club girl….
Surrounded by pastels and plaid, its probably impossible to determine whether you are at a golf event or celebrating the nation’s day of independence. The food will consist of salmon and scallops, some potato salad if you’re lucky, and tan perfectly groomed families will exchange stories about their glamorous sailing trips in Cape Cod. So what should you wear, without looking like you’re trying too hard of course?! A shift dress is key. It can be lace, patterned or blue and white striped if you prefer a more festive look. Pair this dress with a pair of sandals or espadrilles and adorn your ears with pearls and you are all set!
Back yard BBQ? All set!
Burgers and hot dogs will be cooking on the grill, little kiddos running around you waving their American Flags. It’s a casual affair, but you SO don’t want to look like a total slob, after all the perfect Sperry-sporting guy may be waiting for you! This is the perfect occasion for those adorable JCrew shorts that you just bought, they are a nice rich material but they are by no means fancy. Throw on some amazing strappy sandals and your favorite tank, after all it will be steamy when you meet this boy, and you’ll be the most stylish girl there!
So you’re a free spirit flower child….
Most likely the idea of going to a back yard BBQ or Country Club puts you to sleep. While your parents may have begged you to join them, your mom already buying you the ‘perfect’ Lily Pulitzer dress, you have opted to spend the night your favorite group of friends. You and girlfriends have a night planned of speeding around the city in your convertible, meeting up with some cuties and dancing the night away as fireworks explode in the distance. Your outfit probably consists of something you throw together at the very last minute, maybe something not even from your own closet. Your legs will be glad in the shortest denim cutoffs you can get your hands on, and amazing lacy crop top and gladiators. Or maybe you’ll just wrap yourself in a flag? What better outfit to wear when waving sparklers in your hands?!
