New York Fashion Week Nail Trends
New York Fashion Week – NYFW – might be over, but that doesn’t mean we can’t still be raving about the styles that came from it. All the details of a show are vital, since for the most part they’ll be the upcoming trends in later months. If there’s one thing that’ll last after NYFW, which happened in February, it’s the diverse nail art that was seen on every model walking the runway.
The Blonds’ & CND
One of the most creative nail designs this year was found on The Blonds’ runway, which had been designed by Jan Arnold. Together, Arnold and The Blonds (David Blond and Phillipe Blond) were inspired by 1950’s glamour and Alice in Wonderland, which not only created some gorgeous fashion, but memorable nails. Overall, CND (Creative Nail Design) created and displayed 22 different nail designs for The Blonds F/W 16 show. Through yummy cookie nails and distorted rhinestones, their nail art will have to you in awe for days.

Jonathon Simkhai & Essie
On a simpler, yet bolder side Jonathon Simkhai paired with Essie to create beautiful nails that matched his F/W line effortlessly. According to Essie Nail Lead, Rita Remark, Simkhai wanted the nails to exactly coordinate with the designs. To make sure she matched his cozy knits, Remark used five different shades – Find Me an Oasis, Wrap Me Up, Midnight Cami, Marshmallow, and All Eyes on the Nudes.
Rebecca Minkoff & Essie
Not only did Essie team up with Jonathon Simkhai, but they also worked with Rebecca Minkoff this season to create a gorgeous “tone on tone” design. Inspired by the modern music gal, Essie designer Michelle Saunders used bright, warm and spring tones to achieve the look. The main colors she used were – Sunshine State of Mind, Lounge Lover, and High Class Affair – which are newer shades coming out just in time for spring!
There’s no argument that the nails this year at NYFW were an even bolder statement than some of the pieces. Whether it be the “Brace Face” look that Miss Pop managed to do for Fiona Bryne and Rachel Antonoff, or any of the Kiss Product Inc., work seen on multiple of runways. Not only were the boldest of nails beautiful, but also were the simpler looks that somehow captured the eye once staring at the hand. For example, take the beautifully natural looking style that graced the runway of Derek Lam. Another beautiful example is the solids that were found on the runways of Suno and Lela Rose. No matter whether it was the simple line down the center of the nail, or the metallic and nudes, the nails were beautiful and definitely worth remembering for a while.
