Fashion as Living Art
Collaborations between large main stream companies and independent designers are a huge trend these days. The most recent collaboration we have come across is the Vans X Eley Kishimoto. They are banning together to design an actively artistic line for Vans shoes and apparel. They are calling it “Living Art,” the idea that fashion is expressed through your personal style and your actions that are creatively driven.
Eley Kishimoto is known for their amazing print design and intricate craftsmanship. With a motto of “Print the World,” Eley Kishimoto has built their popularity on decorating anything and everything. While working with many well-known designers, the company took a gamble and designed their own clothing line in the 1990s and has been a success ever since. Now they have returned to their original frontier and are designing prints for Vans that are concurring the avenue of street style.
This collaboration is inspired by the urban jungle in which we live in. They have taken colors, shapes and graphics of the everyday life around us and transformed them into ingenious prints for Vans apparel and shoes. Road markings, tribal patterns, geometric shapes—all are taken into play and then mixed and matched to create a living pattern of relation and movement.
Be wild, be energetic, be motivated, be passionate, be you! This line is perfect for Vans and their rebellious street style. The prints and patterns are meant to be layered and ridiculous. Embrace the unknown, creativity and freedom of this line and let the clothes speak volumes as you skate through the concrete jungle around you.
