Yogis Influence the Apparel Industry
This week we are talking about some awesome yoga gear I found out about while practicing at Amazing Yoga. There are numerous companies that make yoga gear with unique designs, flirty cut-outs and vibrant colors, but there are not many companies that do it with integrity. Many main stream workout companies have manufacturers overseas and sometimes use sweat shops to produce the most cost effective product. The designer yoga clothes for women mentioned in this article are different in that they vowel to make a change. They are either local Pittsburgh companies, USA made or made from recycled materials to create sustainability for our world!
#1. Teeki has incredibly unique designs with fantastic color schemes. Their apparel is made from 100% recycled plastic water bottles that are then spun into fabric. They also manufacture locally in the USA which helps create more jobs. They fuse the practice of yoga and fashion perfectly through their creativity and sustainability.
#2. Dona Jo fitwear is a company that thrives off of inspiring women to be strong, influential, active, healthy and fashionable. Just like the women that influenced their company name. Although this line was started right here in Pittsburgh, they source their products in Brazil to help provide jobs and education for their workers in need and in return gain an alternative perspective for designs.
#3. Om Girl is a California based yoga line from fabric to finish. They incorporate fun designs with active wear material and comfort. Their yoga apparel is hand died and made of a very soft material, creating the ultimate comfort.
#4. Kira Grace developed from the combination of the founder’s name, Kira and her daughter’s name, Grace. With an impressive resume of active wear companies, Kira decided to branch out and create her own line that brings fashion and function together into beautiful silhouettes and designs. Each garment is crafted from the highest performance fabric right here in the USA.
#5. Groceries Apparel is another 100% recycled and USA made line that is located in California. Their fresh fashion style and comfortable material make for an amazing workout. While I was having trouble finding much information on this line, they are sold at Amazing Yoga and are definitely worth trying to get ahold of!
