How does a celebrity get recognized at an awards show even if he or she
doesn’t win an award? Well, there are two options: the first is to have the
most amazing dress of anyone in attendance. And the second option (which
will definitely get you even more attention) is to wear the absolute worst
dress of anyone on the red carpet.
So who caught our eyes this year? We can think of a few ladies who really
made a splash – some in a good way, and some….not so much.
The best:
LeAnn Rimes: Kim Kardashian did the gold sequined drape dress, LeAnn did it better. The country singer’s gown was a stunning shade of pale gold, and the beauty really came through in the dress’ details: like the asymmetric straps and tied waist.
Sara Bareilles: Sometimes keeping it simple really pays off. Sara’s column dress is a perfect example of this. The orange-hued red was perfectly
modern, and the understated dress kept her chunky gold bangles from looking over-the-top.
Selena Gomez: The J Mendel dress was an immaculate fit, a beautiful color,
and had just the right amount of sheen. Selena also managed to accessorize
perfectly with a nude clutch, an amazing pair of drop earrings, and the most
incredible studded pumps – which I’m totally coveting right now (and my
birthday’s coming up…just saying.)
Heidi Klum: The model looks stunning in practically everthing she wears. Heidi worked the red carpet like a catwalk in her gold sequined dress with a bold open back.
The worst:
Ciara: Just way too much going on here. The thigh-high slit was unbelievably hot at the Grammys, but Ciara just didn’t get it right. For one thing, the top was way too revealing to balance out such a daring skirt. For another, the skirt kind of resembled my aunt’s tablecloths. And why,WHY would you wear that monstrosity with black shoes?
Rihanna: Word of advice: taking a paper shredder to your dress? Never a good idea.
Nicki Minaj: Okay, I get it. You’re quirky. You’re bold. You have multiple rapping personalities. But none of these reasons are good enough
excuses for LITERALLY wearing the same print from head to toe.
