I don’t know about you other MANIACS, but my dream in life has always been to be Carrie Bradshaw. She has a rent controlled apartment in Manhattan, a closet full of designer clothes and a shoe collection to die for. Not only does she have the wardrobe that every girl covets, her job involved drinking cocktails at her laptop while discussing her and her friend’s sex lives. What a life to lead. Am I right? It’s been almost nine years since the series has been off-air and life has not been the same. They’ve tried to satisfy fans with movies but sometimes there’s nothing like sitting in front of the television in your pajamas. The TV lords have heard our cries. It’s back! Well, sort-of.
I can remember the first time I saw the book, “The Carrie Diaries”. I was going through major “City” withdrawal and was looking for books to feed my appetite on Amazon. Low and behold, this caught my eye. I ordered it immediately and devoured it like a cupcake from Magnolia Bakery. (See what I did there?) After finishing the second, I didn’t know what to do with myself but the CW is always looking out for us. On Monday, January 14, “The Carrie Diaries” is premiering at 8 on CW. For those of you who aren’t already familiar with this exciting news, I’ll give you a backdrop on the series. Don’t worry. Same Carrie, just younger. It’s the prequel to the HBO series.
The show focuses on Carrie Bradshaw during her senior year of high school in the early 1980s and part of her life in New York working as a writer. AnnaSophia Robb (Bridge to Terabithia, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory) was cast to play Carrie. She looks gorgeous in all the ads and we can’t wait to see how she carries (no pun intended) herself and her style. Long story short, the story is told from Carrie’s perspective as she navigates her senior year of high school. She’s smart, witty and a bit naive. We wouldn’t expect anything else.
We can’t wait to get carried away – again. Are you excited or do you think it will flop?
