Get Creative With Pumpkin Decorating
If you are anything like me you are super basic and love fall. Also, if you are anything like me you aren’t the greatest pumpkin carver in the world (you actually might be the worst pumpkin carver EVER, but, again, that’s only if you are anything like me.) It happens every year… you see all these intricate pumpkin carving designs, get a little too enthusiastic and try to imitate them, but then your pumpkin comes out looking like a toddler was set loose with a carving kit (wait.. is this just me again?) So, dismayed, you vow to try harder next year and convince yourself you’ll be more artistic by then (spoiler: you aren’t.) If this sounds like you, I have great news. The biggest trend in pumpkin decorating this year has absolutely nothing to do with carving. This year it is all about painting and using craft accessories to make sure your pumpkin is the best on the block. You may now take a moment to rejoice.
Here are some of our favorite (new) ways to decorate pumpkins:
Paint
Painted pumpkins are everywhere this year. You can choose to do a solid color or get a little more creative and make a design (we especially love chevron). You can use regular paint or we recommend spray paint to achieve the metallic hue.
Glitter
When isn’t glitter in season? We love, love, love these pumpkins decorated with glitter. The plus side of this option is you can use any color you’d like! If you don’t want to use the traditional orange or white pumpkin just simply paint the pumpkin whatever color you have in mind, let it dry and then glitter away.
The Monogram
Make your masterpiece the focal point of your front porch by painting your monogram on it. Simply create your monogram using Microsoft Word and print, then using transfer paper, trace the outline of the monogram onto your pumpkin, fill in with paint and ta-da your monogrammed pumpkin is finished!
These are just a few of the ways you can decorate a pumpkin, and I encourage you to get creative! This might just be the year you don’t cry after your failed carving attempt (seriously? Just me again?)
