Pittsburgh Pop Up Wedding Co
Two people fall in love, decide to make the official declaration of unity with marriage, but have no interest in the months of planning and spending the thousands of dollars on a wedding. What to do? Pittsburgh Pop Up Wedding Co to the rescue! More elaborate than a courthouse wedding, but much more simple and cost effective than a typical wedding, it’s the perfect solution for the modern bride who wants to get hitched in style, and not suffer for it.
Co-founders and trend-setters Tricia Derry and Colleen Chorney strive to make a Pop Up Wedding an unconventional but very attractive alternative to the average wedding. It is an intimate wedding with close friends and family that eliminates the stress of planning for the couple. They take care of everything; copules choose a venue from their list, a time slot, and the folks at Pop Up Wedding will do the rest.
“We offer a unique, stylish venue for your ceremony and celebration,” says Colleen Chorney, adding, “We will style the site with beautiful vintage furnishings, décor, and props. We also provide an officiant, a professional photographer, professional event coordinator, flowers, delicious cake, sparkling beverage station, and always one fun element of surprise!”
Each celebration is 90 minutes long and welcomes 20 or less guests. To choose a Pop Up location, just access the site to see the available Saturdays and time slots. Previous weddings have been held at the Pumphouse at the Waterfront and a vintage alley cottage in Wexford. New locations are popping up all the time like Studio AM (a cozy art studio and artistic residence of former Steelers Baron Batch and John Malecki), or if you’re looking for more of a rustic theme, try The Urban Barn in the Burgh PointBreezeway.
Only making its debut in March of 2015, the duo saw a gap in the wedding market for this type of ceremony and jumped at the chance. “After being in the events industry for many years I realized there was not an existing company in Pittsburgh that was focused on non-traditional weddings; something that was going to cater to the ‘off- beat bride’ opposed to the more traditional bride,” Derry explained.
For the right bride, choosing a Pop Up wedding can be highly beneficial. The experience provides a low-key and stress-free experience for the couple. Planning begins the minute a couple chooses a venue and then Pop Up handles the rest. All that is left for the couple is filing for a wedding license and sending out the invites.
Venue options are announced about 2 months prior to the date, and on average 2-4 time slots are available for each date. While the typical Pop Up wedding is 90 minutes, the couples also have the option of choosing a Pop Up Plus wedding, which is a ceremony and a few-hours long reception.
