Naturally, I pop in my ear buds as soon as I exit my building. The few minutes I have to myself before conversing with anybody about how cold it is, the fact that it’s too early, and what an annoyance going to work is. I get three steps onto the sidewalk and notice I’m walking a little harder than normal, maybe detecting a slight swing in my hips. Why? I glance down at my phone and see “Greasy Love” appear on the screen.
The obviously cool female I’m hearing is Findlay. An up and coming mega babe from London. Her blunt bangs and hard hitting vocals and sultry EVERYTHING, is hard to ignore. However, what really sparked our love affair was the line from my favorite tune: “Well I get so tired of trying to be good and oh lord, I was born to be misunderstood”
(If you were ever a female college freshman, who frequented gay bars, never bought a dress over $25.00, and only painted her nails red: then you get it.)
Anyways as I scanned my playlist for some more I’m-going-to-kick-as-today songs, I noticed that’s actually all I’ve been listening to. With Valentines Day quickly approaching, I figured my subconscious DJ was steering me in the right direction. Weather you’re on your way into a 10 o’clock meeting, running on some treadmill to nowhere, or ignoring text messages from the super hot guy you’ve had a crush on for weeks: these girls won’t let you down.
