Yesterday was the country’s most loved sports game of the year, the Super Bowl. This year it was the Denver Broncos vs. the Seattle Seahawks, two teams we haven’t seen in the spotlight for a few years. Though the game seemed to be an easy win for the Seahawks, another would definitely be Bruno Mars half-time performance. There was a lot of questioning if Bruno would have what it takes to put on a grand performance for the billions of viewers, live and via television. A guy of only 28 years and two released albums to the public, many seemed skeptical. That is, until he proved them all wrong. Bruno literally rocked one of the nation’s largest stages with a dub-step and drum solo as his outstanding opening. We are all so used to this man’s wonderful voice that it was really surprising to see him show yet another of his musician talents. Once he was finished gliding all over the stage, we finally got to hear a few of his well-known songs. “Just the Way You Are,” “Locked Out of Heaven,” “Treasure,” and “Shout,” were among his set list. Then, as rumored, Red Hot Chili Peppers came to the stage and blew away the crowd and millions of viewers for sure! A shirtless Anthony Kiedis and “Flea” are all you really need to get the crowd swooning. With their performance of “Give It Away” and “Snow” the 2014 Super Bowl Half-Time Show could be deemed officially successful. Even though both performers were coming from opposite sides of the music spectrum, it was nice to see that a collaboration between funk-metal and pop-soul could be achieved. From the music, to the lights, fireworks, and cheering crowds, the 2014 Half-Time Show is certainly one for the books!
