It’s been a while since we’ve heard anything from Scarlett Johansson. Her last big movie was Marvel’s The Avengers in 2012. Where has she been? What has she been doing? Well, when she isn’t opening up to magazines about marriage having no relevance to her, you can find her on stage. Her most recent endeavor landed her back on Broadway.
ScarJo plays Maggie, the lead in Tennessee Williams’ Cat on a Hot Tin Roof. Her first debut was Arthur Miller’s A View from the Bridge. Playing the Cat, Maggie, proved to be a challenging role. The first half-hour of the three-hour play depends almost solely on extremely long dialogues by Maggie. Her husband, played by Benjamin Walker, has a few brief interruptions. I’m sure they are much needed.
Scarlett is now adding another project and we couldn’t be more excited. She certainly has the music in her. The song “Before My Time” by J. Ralph featuring Scarlett Johansson and Joshua Bell was nominated for an Academy Award from the documentary Chasing Ice. Although Adele beat her out, ScarJo also has an album of Tom Waits covers and a collaboration with Pete Yorn on her musical repertoire as well.
The band called (how perfect) the One and Only Singles was announced when Miss Johansson appeared on Live With Kelly and Michael. She says they’re doing their Go Go’s thing which we love. From posing for Dolce & Gabbana to Broadway curtain calls, we don’t know when she is going to squeeze in studio time. We barely can figure out how she has time to sleep. That’s why we’ll leave the superhero duties to her.
