Joss Stone is revisiting her roots with her new album, The Soul Sessions Volume 2, on July 31st. The contents include covers of well-known artists such as the Rolling Stones, Broken Bells, and Womack and Womack. It is a continuation of her debut album, The Soul Sessions, released back in 2003.
Since her first album release, Stone has developed her throaty voice into a uniquely soulful style. The singer/songwriter admitted that she “didn’t really know what [she] was doing” when she broke into the music business at 16. But since then she has recorded four albums including Mind, Body, and Soul (2004), Introducing Joss Stone (2007), Colour Me Free! (2010), and LPI (2011) With each new album she has demanded greater control, allowing her style to mature into the uniquely soulful, bluesy sound that it is today.
