She’s the powerhouse of little league, the cover of Sports Illustrated, and the topic of conversations all across the nation. At only thirteen-years-old, Mo’ne Davis is doing a pretty good job at leaving her mark on the world of sports.
The 5 foot and 4 inches Philadelphia Taney Dragon pitcher is taking the Little League World Series by storm. With her 70 miles per hour fastball, Mo’ne is not only catching the attention of her opponents, but thousands of sports-loving and not-so-sports-loving fans across the United States.
In a sport dominated by male athletes, Davis is bringing a sense of inspiration and empowerment to girls of all ages, encouraging them to achieve their goals and follow their dreams no matter what obstacle is thrown at them.
Though right now Mo’ne is focusing all of her attention to pitching her best during her Little League World Series games, she does not always see baseball in her future. The young athlete’s dream leaves baseball behind and focuses on another sport—basketball—wanting to be a female college basketball player when she grows up.
So, maybe throwing like a girl isn’t too bad after all.
