Blogger of the Week: Grace Atwood of thestripe.com
Grace Atwood is the creative genius behind thestripe.com, where she talks about all of our favorite things: style, beauty, wellness, and booze! This New Englander knows how to keep it classy while always looking absolutely stunning! Read on to find out where she gets her inspiration from.
Maniac Magazine: How did you first become interested in blogging?
Grace Atwood: I first became interested in blogging years and years ago! I read blogs like The Budget Babe and Cupcakes and Cashmere and wanted my own little corner of the Internet to share things that I loved.
MM: What inspires you? What influences your personal style and how would you describe it?
GA: I am inspired everywhere I go! The easy ones are Pinterest + magazines… and Instagram… but truthfully I am inspired everyday just walking around the streets of New York or going out to dinner.
MM: What are your favorite beauty and fashion brands?
GA: In the beauty space I’m really into all natural products right now. I love Tata Harper, Herbivore, Drunk Elephant, One Love Organics, and several other brands. For fashion, I’m a die hard Rebecca Taylor fan, but I also love SEA New York and Theory. I’m pretty classic. I also (just like everyone else) shop at J.Crew, Everlane, and Zara quite a bit.
MM: What products do you splurge on?
GA: Skincare! Especially as I get older (I’m 34), it’s so important.
MM: Who are some of your favorite bloggers?
GA: I have so many favorites but I check A Piece of Toast, Sequins & Stripes, Look Linger Love, HonestlyWTF, and Gal Meets Glam every day.
MM: How do you balance blogging with other interests/ jobs?
GA: Well, I recently left my day job to pursue this full time, but blogging (particularly social media) can take over life if you aren’t careful. I make it a point to put my phone away at the dinner party, and if I’m out with friends or family, I make sure to focus on being present and enjoying the people around me rather than being distracted.
MM: Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
GA: I have no idea! Hopefully blogs will still be around, if not, maybe running my own company
MM: If you could go back in time, would you do anything differently?
GA: Nope. I think that everything we do (even our biggest mistakes) ultimately l believe that our decisions make us into the people we are today. That said, I’d probably try to stress out a little less.
MM: What is your most Maniac moment?
GA: Haha I’m not sure. I’m not exactly a maniac. I would say that there have definitely been some tequila infused evenings that have led to late night dance parties. Does that count?
