When we think of grainy photography, it’s not likely we incorporate color into the picture. Leslie David has taken low res editorial scans and vintage prints and made her mark on them – literally. Using a combination of portraits and landscapes, she has turned them into magical pieces of art. Using a style of art called gouache, David thickly smudged color onto the prints and we are in love with the contrast. This adorable French graphic designer has quite the portfolio. David has worked with high-profile brands as well as designed artwork for musicians like The Rapture and Röyksopp.
Her style does not fit the typical mold and that’s what we love about her work. Her designs are instinctive and don’t claim concepts with her art. We admire her for being independent and making her own choices. She knows what she wants – a girl after our own hearts. These photographs have made us eager to explore her world. We will warn you fellow art appreciative Maniacs, be sure to free your hard drive if you go exploring. With her elegant and witty artwork, your hard drive will be full before you know it.
