Children of the 90’s have heard of Bill Gates, but know Steve Jobs. Steve Jobs, co-founder and chief executive of Apple has become a house hold figure by constantly inventing and recreating products that continue to change the technology world, music industry, as well as the film business.
Apple released Wednesday, September 1st “Ping” a new, innovative social networking site which allows users to not only follow their friends and favorite artists but also follow the music in which their friends and artist listen too, talk about, and download. Like Pandora, Ping also has the ability to recommend new music based upon what you previously liked. It is an groundbreaking synthesis ofItunes, Pandora, Facebook and Twitter- all in one free and user friendly social networking site.
Jobs and his team at Apple have also released a new generation of the already monopolized Ipod touch, as well as the Ipod Nano. Thenew Ipod touch is amazingly original, featuring “Facetime”, a face to face communication software previously only available on the Iphone 4, increased display sharpness, the capability to record, edit, and share HD video, as well as a game center allowing gamers to play friends all over the world. With an 8 GB touch starting at $229, it is not only incredibly pioneering but also affordable.
The nano received a complete makeover as well. The new nano is still incredibly small and colorful, however it now features a 1.5 inch touch screen color display which previously was only found on the Ipad, Ipod Touch and Iphone. This display allows users to touch, tap, swipe and ultimately play their favorite songs. Increased customization settings allows for more personalization. The nano is also disability friendly, as it features a screen swipe-and-read function as well as the capability to play in only one ear phone. The nano can play 24 hours of straight music before the battery runs out. It can also sync to Nike’s Ipod Sport’s kit allowing for electronic fitness training. If as if that was not enough features to squeeze into a tiny stylish electronic gadget the new nano also has an FM radio with live pause, a feature new to the Ipod. The release of these three new inventions has the world on their toes wondering what more could Steve Job’s and the folks at Apple think of?
