Manic about Mother’s Day?
Okay, so we all get a little stressed out about holidays. Christmas, we don’t know what to get everyone so we end up just giving out those stupid money cards because they’ll probably put it to better use then some lame gift attempt. Easter, candy, candy, candy, pretty simple actually, unless you’re all about who can make the “best” basket. Valentines Day is just a horror show filled with cheesy hallmark cards and chocolate, not to mention all the anti-valentines who proceed to exclaim how happy they are being single, when really we all know they’re not. Halloween is practically a contest for who can be the biggest slut or the most terrifying image of gore. But, what about the holiday that doesn’t get all that much hype? The holiday that in reality, should be one of the most celebrated. Mother’s Day.
Not to get all weird on you, but think about it, your Mom is the reason you’re even here today, that and a little help from your Dad. But who was the one to carry you for 9 months and then lay in a hospital bed for 20 hours and painfully give birth to you? Ew, crazy. I know, the thought of giving birth is gross, but your Mom did it, kudos to her, because seriously, look at who you are today Maniac. With this all in mind, what to we give the woman who gave us life, dealt with our childhood to adulthood shit, and still continued to support and love us?
…
Drawing blanks after all that? Struck with the thoughts of all the amazing things about your mom? Going manic? Stop. There are answers to these questions. There is a method to handle this madness. First step, Pinterest it out. I’m a huge fan of being inspired by the ideas of others. I like fusing together products from here and there, creating my own masterpiece. The nice thing about Mother’s Day, is it’s a known fact that Mom’s love when you make them stuff. I’m not talking food, I’m talking like all the little projects you did in elementary school, but of course, more evolved by this point. A gift from the hand is a gift from the heart. So get creative and let that inner artist come out. Even if you’re not artistic in any way, shape, or form, charge that energy into something you can do. Can’t draw? Write. Can’t write? Bake. Can’t bake? Buy. At least you’ll end up with something one way or another that looks like it was made with care.
As for me, I’m a fan of the anything in a jar. My Mom is a canning fanatic, so anytime I give her something, it practically comes in a Bells jar so she can use it whenever she uses the gift from inside. It serves two purposes and makes her smile. Find that little thing your Mom loves to do, or likes, or enjoys in some way and incorporate it to your gift. This shows true thought and will make her feel special. For those Maniacs who live far away from their Moms, please be sure to call her, Skype, FaceTime, whatever if you can’t make it out to physically see her. Tell her you love her, because sometimes, thats all a Mother really wants.
Happy Mother’s Day to all the Maniac’s and their Mom’s!
