Ever since filming for “The Dark Knight Rises” came to an end here in Pittsburgh, the whole city has been anxiously awaiting it’s premier. That day will finally arrive today, with midnight premiers in movie theaters all across the country. With new villains such as Catwoman (played by Anne Hathaway) and Bane (played by Tom Hardy) this film is poised to be just as action-packed and thrilling as the previous two Batman movies. It also stars Christian Bale as Bruce Wayne (Batman), Michael Caine as Alfred, Gary Oldman as Commissioner Gordon, Marion Cotillard as Miranda Tate, and Joseph Gordon-Levitt as John Blake.
“The Dark Knight Rises” has had a local Pittsburgh connection since the beginning, with Thomas Tull, the producer, being a minority owner of the Steelers. But having the movie filmed locally really brought the city to life. After all, who could forget the buzzing excitement as local Pittsburgher’s and a few local celebrities got a chance to represent their city as extras and actors? Many will be on the edge of their seats waiting for the much-anticipated scene featuring Heinz Ward running across Heinz field with explosions following his footsteps.
If you plan to go to the midnight showing tonight at your local theater, you may be out of luck. Most have sold out and you may have to catch another showing. But “The Dark Knight Rises” is sure to be worth the wait!
