Walk into downtown restaurant Butcher and the Rye and you will immediately know that you stepped into something special. Every detail is accounted for. My personal favorite are the rabbit shaped bronze casted hooks underneath the bar counter. Go upstairs and look at the bookshelf- it’s like an 17th Century scientific library. While you sip on your ultra chic cocktails, you can take in each and every piece of decor that Chef Richard DeShantz put into the space.
Along with their rustic and antique decor, there’s a flavor of local art thrown in. Local artists have been called in to help decorate tables, walls, floors and you name it. Take a look at the bathroom walls: there is a full mural to keep you entertained while you handle your business. Right in the entrance there are two larger murals that have some background stories to them. As a little conversation starter, ask the bartender!
