To all those people out there who claim that Pittsburgh lacks the excitement of cities like New York and LA, I say: haven’t you heard? Pittsburgh has been hailed as “The Hollywood of The East Coast”
No, I’m not trying to say that the Burgh is as much a haven of excess and glamour as the real Hollywood (something that actually makes me very happy), but the fact is, Pittsburgh is finally getting the recognition it deserves: it’s a beautiful, unique city and it deserves to be seen.
Thanks to the recent surge in Blockbusters that demand low-budget locations which boast both greenery and the big city feel, Pittsburgh is getting a lot of big screen attention. The latest movie that uses Pittsburgh as its backdrop is called “I Am Number Four.” The science fiction flick features real-life couple Alex Pettyfer and Dianna Agron and is out in theatres now.
So where exactly does the film take place? Probably some of the places that you Pittsburgh-ers have been once or twice.
Franklin Regional High School was a major location. The woods surrounding the school made it a perfect choice – scenes were filmed both in the hallways and in the area surrounding the high school.
Two of Pittsburgh’s biggest parks, North Park and Deer Lakes are included in the movie as well.
Scenes were also shot at Friday&Saturday in Beaver.
