This summer is all about having fun in Pittsburgh. Sometimes you have to search for it – or sometimes – all you need is Stage AE and an admit one. The guys will be back in town and Fun. will be had. This tour, they are bringing Tegan and Sara along for the ride. The identical twin sisters are known for their song, Walking With a Ghost, which was covered by the White Stripes and released on their EP in 2005. More recently, they released the song Closer and we cannot stop listening it.
As for Fun., they have had a pretty amazing year since we saw them last summer at Stage AE. After winning two Grammy Awards (Song of the Year and Best New Artist), they’re sales shot up 188%. They’re breakthrough CD “Some Nights” went from being number 14 to 7. Pretty exciting, right? That’s not all. They’re song, Sight of the Sun is featured on the HBO Girls soundtrack.
Oh, did we mention that they also collaborated with designer Rachel Antonoff to create the Ally Coalition? TAC is an organization supporting LGBTQ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, questioning) rights. They work with fashion, music and other entertainment outlets to raise awareness and funds for the LGBTO community. Yeah, these guys are pretty awesome.
If you haven’t got your tickets yet, you may need to start checking on Craigslist and other alternative ticket merchants. This year like last, the show is sold out. You have to move fast when these guys come. With the added bonus of Tegan and Sara, it was a hot ticket. Prepare for ears for so much goodness on July 18. Doors open at 7 and it’s general admission and all ages. See you there Maniac music feens!
