The Metropolitan Museum of Art has a current exhibit that is sure to delight the eye. Colors of the Universe: Chinese Hardstone Carvings features polished stone carvings dating back to the Qing dynasty. The carvings on display range anywhere from the 17th to the 19th century, and are made out of stones such as nephrite, turquoise, agate, quartz, and jasper. It’s hard to believe the detail and precision that was used to create these sculptures. Many are no higher than 6inches! And the beautiful colors of the stone are sure to leave you in awe.
