Looking of for some laidback, folksy, romantic acoustics to get you through the February blues? Seems to us like you’re looking to snuggle up to the deliciously dark duo Adam Green and Binki Shaprio.
Since their self-titled first album dropped on January 29th, the more-than-dynamic indie-evocative twosome’s honest vocals and deeply lighthearted instrumentals have been making quite a splash.
The intimacy between Shapiro and Green’s duets conjures deeply personal lyrics that spin out a web of orchestral, folky, ‘60s-esque tracks — reminiscent of Sonny & Cher and just as timeless. Each one delicately drawing out a range of crisp human emotion with a subtlety and sincerity that will have you hooked for hours.
In these tracks, the duet’s lyricism and melodies mesh with such balanced ease that you’d never guess they haven’t been whispering in eachother’s ears since grade school. Drawn together by mutual heartbreak, the pair first began performing together just over a year ago and quickly noticed they’re remarkable musical chemistry (sorry girls, no love story here — but lucky for us the music is evocative enough).
With classic, charming, emotional duets, fans of The Hush Sound or She and Him should absolutely give this twosome a try. And as a band forged in heartbreak, trust us, when it comes to breakup music Adam Green and Binki Shapiro can’t be beat.
