It’s a look that started on the runway and in editorials as a hot look for Spring 2011, and then over the summer spread to young, hip starlets such as Lady Gaga, Rihanna, Beyonce, and Fergie, and now as it approaches fall, it’s made it’s way, slowly but surely, to the streets. Called “stiletto nails” they are a unique departure from the more typical and common nail shapes.
I recently donned a pistachio-green semi-pointy nail look and went with the “almond” shape instead of the super-pointy dagger à la Lady Gaga. The typical response that I got was, “I love that color, but not so sure about the shape.”
However, it was a love-it or hate-it kind of look…something that I’m a fan of, personally. I tend to gravitate towards a classic take on ultra-trendy, somewhat polarizing styles….and these kind of “claw”-ish nails are definitely a polarizing look.
So, are you in the school of “loving” or “hating” them? They were hot in the 70’s, which makes total sense considering that the 70’s have been such a big fashion revival as of late. But, do they look too witch-like for your personal taste? I decidedly still have mixed opinions. So, maniacs, let’s hear yours!
Love or hate? Trash or trend? (they’re better than the Jersey-style flare nails, a.k.a. ‘duck nails’ right?? 😉 )
