MONOCHROMATIC NEUTRAL MAKEUP: Think the “no-makeup” look is boring? This look is anything but. The inspiration: sultry, Brazilian beach babe. Sensual, shimmering flesh-tones, metallic, matte and glossy texture combinations, sculpted contours and luminescent highlights are the keys to getting it right. This is the #1 makeup look I do when testing new models in NY. Tan, nude, caramel, gold, pearl, bronze, cocoa, cream and earthy black are go-to shades that will never go out of style. Try NARS The Multiple in Tuomota or Malaysia, Physicians Formula Shimmer Strips Custom Bronzer Blush & Eye Shadow in Vegas Strip, NARS Body Illuminator in Laguna, and Wet ‘n Wild Mega Last Lip Color in 902C Bare It All.
LUCITE AND LACE NAIL ART: With every major cosmetic company endlessly churning out new nail polish marketing, we’ve seen nails in every color of the rainbow, it seems. What we hadn’t seen, however, was color-less. The brainchild of CND’s Candice Manacchio, these transparent talons were first presented at the Joy Cioci show during Spring 2012 fashion week. More wearable and practical than a stripper heel and a Ghost chair combined, Lucite and lace make for one romantically chic yet futuristic manicure.
RED/COPPER EYE SHADOW: With fall approaching, this is a definitive trend in eye makeup. Perhaps due to the mass popularity and proliferation of vampires in the media, this is not the easiest look to pull off but looks fantastically edgy when done right. For a modern, urban-gothic smoky eye, line upper and lower lash lines with a rich brown pencil (try MAC Eye Kohl in Teddy). Use a smudge brush to soften and blend outward, then dust on a light wash of red shadow such as Coppering by MAC on eyelid and lower lash line. Top with a few clean coats of black or black/brown mascara such as L’Oreal Extra Volume Collagen. This look pairs equally well with pale or tanned skin tones.
