In the kitchen and in the home baking soda can be used for a variety of things from baking to cleaning and even unclogging a stubborn drain, but it is also one of the most important tools in your at home DIY beauty routine. Simply adding baking soda to your already existing beauty rituals can be extremely beneficial for your hair, your skin, your nails and your teeth. Here are just a few quick tips and tricks to utilize baking soda with head to toe results.
Healthy Gentle Clarifying Shampoo:
When ever your hair is feeling a bit limp and weighed down with product build up instead of dropping major bucks on harsh clarifying shampoos simply wash you hair with baking soda. Take a cup of Baking soda and moisten it into a paste by slowly adding water then wash your hair as usual making sure to cover you whole head. Leave the mixture sit for 2 minutes then rinse with warm water and condition as usual.
Note: add a small amount of your regular shampoo to help with the consistency of the mixture if needed.
Exfoliating Face Wash:
Mix baking soda with your regular face wash to form a paste to make a gentle face scrub. This mixture will help to gently remove dead skin, unclog your pores, and brighten your complexion.
Body Buffer:
For smooth refreshed skin mix baking soda into your favorite body wash and scrub away. The mixture will slowly buff away dead skin and leave behind fresh smooth skin.
Note: For best results apply lotion or baby oil to your newly exfoliated skin before your body is completely dry after you shower or bath.
Nail and Teeth Whitener:
You can whiten stained nails and teeth with a mixture of 2/3 parts baking soda and 1/3 part (maybe less) hydrogen peroxide and mix into a paste.
For nails put a coating of the peroxide paste on all of your nails and let it sit for 1 minute then using a nail cleaning brush thoroughly scrub your nails clean of the paste and rinse.
For the teeth coat your teeth with the mixture using your tooth brush and let sit for 2 minutes, then rinse your mouth out with water and brush your teeth as usual. You can also add a little bit of mint toothpaste to make the mixture taste better. Do this two to three times a week.
Note: for best results add a little baking soda to your toothpaste while brushing your teeth daily.
This is just a small portion of all the great things baking soda can add to your beauty routine. Go ahead and buy a big bag off it because I promise once you see the greatness of this simple inexpensive household product you’ll want to use it again and again.
