With summer in our midst, it is time to get your glow on. The problem is we don’t want to bake in the sun for hours on end (not good for your skin anyway) and it is nearly impossible to choose what self-tanner to buy because there seems to be like a billion of them. To make your self-tanning process easier, here are some of my favorite products and tips to get you that bronzed (not streaky) look!
Step One:
Make sure to exfoliate and shave before you apply the tanner. You want your skin to be smooth and soft so the tanner looks even on your skin.
My favorite exfoliator is Fresh’s Brown Sugar Body Polish, but it’s a little pricey though. A budget friendly option that also works well is Dove’s Exfoliating Body Wash with Nutriummoisture.
Another tip to get an even tan is by applying a light lotion on the driest parts of your body (like your knees and elbows). Dry patches will cause the tanner to settle and look darker than the rest of your skin. If you don’t, it creates some streaks which basically screams to everyone you got your tan straight from a bottle.

Step Two:
After exfoliating and shaving, it is time to get your summer tan on! The absolute best tanner, in my opinion, is the St. Tropez Self Tan Bronzing Mousse. It applies so evenly and easily all while giving you a natural and believable tan. Another perk of this product is how quickly it dries! I have yet to ever get this tanner all over my clothes because of it’s quick drying time. Best of all, it doesn’t have that oh so common smell that a lot of tanners have. I apply it with the St. Tropez Tan Applicator Mitt. It makes the tan so even and prevents your hands from turning orange!

Another great and wallet friendly option is Jergens Natural Glow 3 Days to Glow Moisturizer. It does not smell bad and it quickly gives me a tan. I use the St. Tropez Tan Applicator Mitt with this product as well.

Step 3:
The final task of your tanning journey is getting your face bronzed. I do not like putting tanner on my face. Some people do, but I find you have to apply the tanner on your face day after day for the glow to stay the same. Why? Washing your face twice a day makes the tan fade at a fast rate. Instead, I like to use a bronzer that has only a bit of shimmer in it. My two favorite bronzers are Laura Mercier’s Bronzing Pressed Powder and Bobbi Brown’s Bronzing Powder. Both work great and give you that fresh off the beach tan. These two bronzer’s are in my beauty arsenal and give me a glow that does not look fake.
