Braids are making a comeback. While they used to sit pretty on the heads of grade-schoolers, the hairstyle has ditched the swing-sets and graduated to red carpets. Salons in New York, Los Angeles, and cities in between, are all incorporating the latest braid craze into their services, offering “braid bars” which feature special menus of various braid styles for varying prices.
The braid-trend has woven its way through celebs like Jessica Alba, Christina Aguilera, Lea Michele, Blake Lively, and Rihanna, in magazines, and on screen. The most influential braid of the season by far? The delicate side braid seen on fictional heroine Katniss Everdeen, played by Jennifer Lawrence, throughout this spring’s massive blockbuster, The Hunger Games.
From the classic French braid, to cord braids, waterfall braids, herringbone, and fishtail braids, the hairstyle is a cute, low-maintenance, sleep-proof style that will last a couple days. It’s definitely a plus for any woman who’s trying to stay on-trend without spending crazy amounts of money or time.
