Most of us buy avocados strictly to make a snack of guacamole, but did you know those little green fruits can be used for beauty treatments? Avocados are full of beneficial oils that can help rejuvenate your skin, add shine to your hair, and help eliminate those bags under your eyes. Now you can love avocados for more than just that yummy guacamole dip!
Since avocados are perishable, it’s important to use these formulas below soon after you make them. To open, cut them in half lengthwise and remove the pit. Now onto the beauty tips…
Fight Off Those Puffy Eyes
This couldn’t be any easier, and it works like magic. First, cut half of a peeled avocado into quarter-inch crescent-shapes. Then just lie down, place the fruit slices under each eye, and relax for about 20 minutes. That’s it!
No More Expensive Facial Masks
Like the puffy eye treatment, this is very easy as well. Wash your face before you get started. Then just mash half of an avocado into a bowl, and apply evenly onto your face. Let it sit for 15 minutes and rinse the mask off with warm water. This treatment works best for those with dry skin.
Soft, Shiny Hair
Gather the ingredients below, smash and combine them into a small bowl.
1 avocado (1/2 if hair is short)
1 egg yolk
½ teaspoon of olive oil
Once the ingredients are mixed, apply to your hair and let it sit for 30 minutes or longer. When time is up, shampoo and condition your hair as you normally would. Dry, style, and be amazed by how an avocado can leave your hair silky, shiny, and soft.
Smooth, Baby Soft Hands
Mash the following ingredients into a bowl for an exfoliating scrub.
¼ of a peeled avocado
1 egg white
2 tablespoons of oatmeal
1 teaspoon of lemon juice
Apply the mixture to your hands and keep it on for about 20 minutes. Rinse your hands and pat dry for soft, smooth hands like you just left the manicurist.
Now that you have these helpful beauty tips, try using the yummy avocado for more than just guac! I promise you’ll love the results of these healthy, easy and inexpensive treatments.
