Diane von Furstenberg New CEO
Diane von Furstenberg is a name that is instantly recognizable to any fashionista. The Belgian-born American fashion designer has created a name for herself and her brand over the past 45 years, even earning a lifetime achievement award from the CFDA in 2005 and a star on Seventh Avenue’s Fashion Walk of Fame in 2008. She is a designer, an author, a spokesperson, and a legend. And now, she has stepped down as the head of her brand.
After decades of success, including the 1974 creation of the iconic wrap dress, the fashion legend has named Paolo Riva as her successor for the New York based brand. Referring to the position as that of an “heir” in Women’s Wear Daily, choosing a CEO is a major move for Diane as this is a first for the company. Because the title didn’t previously exist at DVF, the search for the perfect candidate took two long years, but all of that time seems to have paid off! After working for big names such as Valentino, Ferragamo, and most recently, Tory Burch, Riva knows how to keep things fun and fresh.
He may have some colorful designer shoes to fill but we can’t wait to see where he takes the brand next!
