It’s the most wonderful time of the year. Here at MANIAC, our stockings are hung by the chimney with care in hopes that Ryan Gosling will soon be there. MANIAC mutts are snuggled in their soft doggy beds while visions of shoes dance in their owner’s heads. It really is the season to be jolly and while we love traditional Bing Crosby Christmas songs as much as the next girl (or guy), sometimes it’s nice to hear variation. It could be a new spin on an old classic or a holiday song that you may have never heard before, either way, we want to provide you with some songs for the season.
1.) White Christmas by Katy Perry
This is a different sound than we’re used to for Katy Perry. She has the perfect voice for jazz and this song is the perfect example of it.
2.) Winter Wonderland by A Fine Frenzy
Imagine being curled up by a fire with hot cocoa – or toddy – in hand with this song playing in the background. Alison Sudol’s voice is just as adorable as she is.
3.) Silver Bells by She & Him
Pop in your earbuds and shop ’til you drop with this playing. The lady fighting you for that Burberry scarf will have no affect on your holiday cheer.
4.) Drummer Boy by Justin Bieber (feat. Busta Rhymes)
Bieber Fever. Do we even have to explain it?
5.) California Christmas by Sleepy Rebels
If you spend your Christmas on the beach, we have you covered. Don’t worry, Santa still finds you in the sand.
6.) Carol of the Bells by Destiny’s Child
The girls may have gone their separate ways but this song is still “So Good”.
7.) Christmas Wrapping by Summer Camp (Waitresses Cover)
If you’re feeling a little overwhelmed this year, dance it out with this new spin on an oldie.
8.) Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays by N’SYNC
Don’t even try to deny the fact that you love this song. Justin, we’re still waiting for you to woo us with your voice again.
9.) It’s Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas by Michael Bublé
His voice would make the Grinch himself feel warm and fuzzy inside.
And last but certainly not least:
10.) All I Want for Christmas is You by Mariah Carey
Say what you will about Mariah, this song gets everyone in the holiday spirit.
There you have it! Ten songs to get you started while you trim the tree. I kept it familiar but there’s always a few exceptions to hear something new. Happy Holidays and may your ears be full of cheer!
