When it comes to phones, I have had pretty much every make and model that has been on the market, save for the iPhone….but that’s because I can’t imagine ever relinquishing my BlackBerry. It has been there for me through good times and the bad. I sleep with it; it never leaves my side. However, after doing some research on the latest and greatest devices that allow you to mix business with pleasure – in terms of music – I found there are a ton of other options out there to let folks get their groove on.
When it comes to BlackBerry, I actually know a lot of people who put music on the device and use it just like anyone would an iPod or MP3 player. People can still listen to and buy music from aps while they surf the web, edit documents, and return emails. However, the common complaint is battery life, or the lack thereof. I’ll be the first to attest to that
Ever since iTunes began crushing all the other MP3 competitors out there, and with the induction of the revolutionary iPhone into the marketplace, music and phones have never been the same. So, it isn’t a big shocker that techies and music lovers alike rave about the iPhone 4S. With killer functionality and a sleek design, many argue there is no better phone. The sync with iTunes is simple and easy, and customers have full access to the seemingly limitless iTunes Store, offering almost any artist, song, and/or album you can dream of.
But, it’s not just about the BlackBerry or the iPhone anymore. More and more competitors are coming onto the scene, offering varied functionality, battery life, and storage space. Below is a short list of other great devices that people should certainly consider when looking for a smartphone and the ability to rock out:

Samsung Epic 4G- http://www.samsung.com/us/mobile/cell-phones/SPH-D700ZKASP
HTC EVO 4G- http://www.htc.com/us/products/evo-sprint
There are also music services that companies like Cricket are now offering, as to not break the bank, especially with mobile carrier contract prices the way they are. Cricket Muve Music is a cool new service that the carrier offers on select devices – like the Samsung Vitality – which boasts unlimited music downloads direct to the device for just $65 a month, contract-free. Not too shabby.
But even still, there are options like Spotify Premium which allows unlimited songplay for $9.99 a month on smartphone-capable phones, as well as your other mobile devices like laptops. So you don’t have to dip into your nest egg to enjoy great music on your phone.
In the end, no matter what device you are most loyal to – BlackBerry, iPhone, etc. – there is still one lesson to be learned from it all: Music is a way of life, and it will never go away. Music is an escape that we are now fortunate enough to carry in our pockets wherever life takes us.
